Cupid Love. I love old vintage wedding toppers, especially the ones from the 1920’s. Often I will search around the web looking for interesting ones like the one in this picture. This is from the 30’s and it doesn’t have a bride and groom on it which is pretty unusual – instead it has a sweet cherub sitting on a bouquet of flower. The arch is almost a horseshoe shape and all white with lots of leaves and less flowers.
Silver Bells. How about this one. Look at how delicate the flowers are, paper thin. Lily-of-the-valley and silver bells overhead. I love the porcelain couple. I found an old antique one just like this at the Freemont Flea Market a few weeks ago. Maybe I will try to cast and hand paint it. I have it on my To Do: list.
Lilies Lilies Everywhere. This one spoke to me because of the way the lilies sit on the arbor. I like the dress too. Remember those huge dresses brides used to wear? Now they are so slim and fitted.
The fleets in! I don’t think this would be very popular today, but I bet it was popular in the 40’s. Again, I love the arch.
Wedding March. All these great toppers inspired me to create this one for cupcakes or a small plaster wedding couple. The arches spoke to me so mine is made of lilies and musical note leaves trimmed in glitter. The bottom is a paper mache box also covered in sheet music. Sheet music is in you know. Two sweet doves sit perched on each side. I found the lovely laser cut cupcake holder at Fancy Flours. A vintage image pick for the cupcake also available through Fancy Flours. I also have two other images available for this topper.
Have a lovely weekend, it is raining here in Seattle – the first time in 29 days. It is some sort of record I’m sure. Don’t let the weather stop you from going out and creating “Pretty Little Things”

I love all these vintage images. I actually think there are quite a few brides getting married while their fiancees are on leave from serving in the military. There might be more demand for those than you think. Each one is so sweet in its own way. What an amazing tradition. Thanks for sharing.
