There’s lot’s of fun going on at Mind Wide Open Gail is hosting her Anniversary Challenge. I wasn’t going to participate because of being so swamped over the holiday weekend but this afternoon I felt like making a “pretty little thing.” Gail gave us this beautiful image to work with…
We could do anything we liked with it, as long as we used it in our artwork. We also had a word prompt “Contentment” We could use it in the art or just use it as inspiration.
I decided to deconstruct the image. I printed it out 3 times and started cutting out the images.
First I cut out the little girl without the wings. Then I cut the wings out of the second piece. Then I used the beautiful blue back round for around the bottom of the box. I made the dandelion out of a Styrofoam ball covered in ostrich feathers. I then added a lot of fringe, tinsel, Dresden, German Glass glitter and velvet flowers. I hand glittered the image and the wings and added the little banner with the word “Contentment.” I had so much fun with this and I can’t wait to see all the other pieces. You can check them out too :)
This is the finished product.
My husband took these pictures. I love the way he placed the paper parasol behind it.
From Behind it looks like she is flying away

Love your sweet little girl. And, I agree that the umbrella behind the topper is a great touch - make sure to tell him so! We are hanging out in Heathrow for 8 hours - argh. I bought an internet day pass and am catching up on email and some of my favorite blog sites. Thanks again for the beanies.
